City of Belgrade Award for a Work in the Field of Natural and Technical Sciences for the Year 2025
The City of Belgrade Award in the field of natural and technical sciences for 2025 is presented to Prof. Dr. Vladica Ristić and Prof. Dr. Marija Maksin
for the scientific monograph:
“Ecological Security, Hazards and Risks”
The monograph Ecological Security, Hazards and Risks by Dr. Vladica Ristić and Dr. Marija Maksin, edited by Dr. Saša Milijić and published by the Institute of Architecture and Urbanism of Serbia in Belgrade in 2025, represents a unique and comprehensive scientific work in the field of ecological security, hazards, and risks within both domestic and international scientific literature.
In global research and scientific literature, hazards and risks have so far been analyzed jointly. Therefore, the presented differentiation of hazards and risks, their systematization, and the methods proposed for their assessment and mitigation, as elaborated in this monograph, are considered an exceptional and original scientific contribution.
The significance of the monograph lies in the synthesis and systematization of existing theoretical considerations and global practice. Its scientific contribution is reflected in a new and integrated perspective on the subject matter, as well as in the models for hazard and risk assessment and management proposed by the authors.
This scientific work enables a complex and holistic understanding of the interdependence between the environment and ecological security, the tendencies and possibilities for achieving effective hazard and risk management, while simultaneously strengthening the resilience of social communities to risks. The research results presented in this monograph are innovative and point to future directions in the processes of managing ecological security, hazards, and risks in both science and practice.
The monograph represents exceptional value and an original contribution to interdisciplinary scientific literature in the fields of ecological security, environmental protection, architecture, civil engineering, and urban planning.
We extend our warmest congratulations to all laureates on their achievement and their significant contribution to the scientific community.
Would you like me to adapt this into a ceremonial announcement style (like something read aloud at an award ceremony), or keep it strictly as a formal written citation?
